We serve!

Article Pic

The tradition of our church, which comes from the Reformed tradition, is one that has placed a great deal of emphasis on the "priesthood of all believers." (1 Peter 2:9) Through Jesus Christ, our efforts for God count and we all have the opportunity and responsibility to serve God by serving others.

We serve with our time and abilities.  We make Christ Lord when we spend time looking out for the needs of others.  The Holy Spirit gives us abilities --spiritual gifts-- with which to serve one another.

Ask God whether your giving of time and abilties is in proportion to your spiritual gifts.  How can you express your love for Him better?  Be so bold as to say to your pastor or elders "How can I serve God here at my church?"

Hope Church is organized and run for and by the very people who are members and others who serve our primary mission:  to glorify God and to love and serve him forever.

Hope For Kids

Article Pic Whether you love teaching, working with kids, helping teachers, caring for babies, telling stories, or singing, there are many rewarding places to volunteer in Hope for Kids.  For the protection of our children, all volunteers in Hope For Kids must fill out an application, answer some confidential screening questions, and give permission to the church to run a background check.

Set-Up Team

The set-up team is essential to the smooth operations of Hope Church.  As we don't yet have our own building, we must bring in our own equipment and furniture to set up a fully functioning worship site!  The team starts early on Sunday when a member of the team hauls a trailer full of our materials and equipment to Barbara Bush Middle School.

In addition to placing chairs for worship, the team sets up and places tables, chairs and accessories for all childrens' ministry classes.  After the service, crews teardown and load the trailer.  A separate team sets up the sound and worship team equipment.  These faithful servants team assist and support Hope Church events and functions with personnel and resources as needed.

The set-up team works in rotation, usually only one Sunday a month.  The team is always looking for a few good men to field a fourth set-up team.  A truck with trailer hitch is needed, and the team of four would set-up and teardown once a month.  Contact  Jayson LeRoy for more information.   The sound team is managed by Rex Hidle.

Prayer Team

The prayer team is called by Christ and Hope Church:

  • to pray encouragement for Hope Church, its staff, its leaders and its congregation in all their concerns;
  • to pray that God strengthen us all, in our relationship with God the Father and
    Christ, His Son, and in our relationships with other people;
  • to pray that we all express and live out this privilege of being in God's family and
    family to each other; and
  • to practice prayer as Jesus taught us in scripture.

This is our foundation and our commission.  We delight to receive and pray for all concerns presented to us.  We seek the face of the Lord and bear each others burdens.  Our God says, "I , the Lord, answer your prayers and watch over You. Your blessing comes from Me."

The prayer team are the Elders, Deacons and staff of Hope Church and members who pray for the concerns of Hope Church and our congregation.  Each is dedicated to pray with and for all our people and their prayer requests and concerns.  All prayer requests are kept in strict confidence.  Prayer requests may be made through this web site, or to the church office at 210-545-4673.

When we seek God, and come to Him , He promises to hear us.
When two or three gather in Jesus' name, He is there with them.

Hospitality

Hospitality team members are the first smiling faces and helpful personalities that every visitor entering Hope Church sees.  The team also provides Sunday morning set up and puts together community-building social events.

Our church socials are famous for good food, great fellowship, fun and sometimes a competitive edge, especially during our annual Hope Church Chili Cook-Off.

Hospitality team leaders Jackie Matchett and Allison Schmidt are always looking for new volunteers to set-up, greet and assist visitors, as well as plan and carry-out social events.  For more information, contact Jackie or Allison.
